Veterinary Emergency Service is permanently open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for emergencies that involve your dog or cat.

The Balmesvet Emergency Service is staffed 24 hours a day by professionals to attend to private emergencies or those referred by other vets.

Balmesvet’s Emergency Service works non-stop to attend to sick patients or those who require immediate medical attention. As a leading Veterinary Hospital, we have a team of professionals with extensive experience and specific training.

The main objective of our veterinarians is to assess the patient to determine the seriousness of the problem and to proceed with stabilisation, treatment and any diagnostic tests that may be required, working in coordination with the internal medicine, intensive care and relevant specialist teams.

We have a comprehensive and advanced veterinary hospitalisation and ICU service, with all the necessary tools for the stabilisation and treatment of our patients, as well as an operating theatre ready 24 hours a day for any emergency that may occur. Our facilities have been designed to provide the maximum possible comfort for your pet during their recovery.

Restriction of sales of non-essential diets and medicines

We would like to inform you that in order to offer a quality service to patients who are treated in emergency hours, and to continue taking care of admitted patients, the sale of non-essential diets and medicines will be restricted. We will exclusively handle the sale of sensitive and very specific medications, for the care of our customers. Outside emergency hours, sales will be as usual.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

The following are considered to be emergencies:

  • Accidents, fractures or trauma, bites.
  • Animals in poor health, with fever or lack of appetite.
  • Poisoning by food or other toxic substances
  • Ingestion of sharp or dangerous objects
  • Sudden swelling or appearance of “lumps” or “masses”.
  • Difficulty urinating or defecating.
  • Breathing problems.
  • Heat waves.
  • Bleeding.
  • Vomiting and diarrhoea.
  • Allergic reactions.
  • Disorientation, convulsions, howling, loss of consciousness and/or dizziness.
  • Seeping wounds.
  • Complications during labour and delivery.
  • Abnormal secretions in the reproductive tract.
  • Animals with already diagnosed chronic pathologies that have worsened.
  • Any other problem, which is not in this list, that significantly affects the dog’s or cat’s normal behaviour or daily life.
