Common requirements for all beaches
- Mandatory ID:
- All dogs must be identified with a microchip.
- Some beaches also require dogs to wear an identification tag or have visible registration documentation.
- Up-to-date health card:
- An up-to-date vaccination card is required. Although not all beaches specify this, it is highly recommended.
- Control at all times:
- Dogs must be under the control of their handler at all times, both on the sand and in the water.
- Remain within the designated dog area.
- Poop scooping:
- It is mandatory to pick up your pet’s feces and dispose of them in the designated trash cans.
- On several beaches, you are also required to rinse the area where your dog urinated with water.
- No washing dogs with soap in public showers:
- This is regulated by municipal law to preserve peaceful coexistence and the environment.
- It pollutes the natural environment, and hygiene products alter the quality of the water and sand.
- It can affect the health of other users, especially children or people with sensitive skin.
- The showers are not equipped to handle chemical waste or animal hair.
Regulations for potentially dangerous breeds (PPP)
Virtually all beaches apply the following measures:
- Mandatory muzzle:
- PPPs must wear a muzzle at all times, including during swimming.
- Mandatory use of leash:
- They must be secured with a non-extendable leash, generally less than 2 meters long.
- Adult guardian:
- They can only be accompanied by persons over the age of 18.
- One dog per person:
- Only one PPP per person is allowed in designated areas.
- License and documentation:
- You must carry your municipal license and the dog’s identification documentation at all times.
General recommendations
These best practices are repeatedly seen on many beaches and are key to a safe and respectful experience:
Avoid the hottest hours of the day: It is advisable to visit the beaches early in the morning or at sunset to avoid heatstroke.
- Bring fresh water: Essential for preventing dehydration, especially on beaches without water fountains.
- Please refrain from bringing dogs in heat: Prevents conflicts between unneutered males, unnecessary stress for the female dog, and situations that are difficult to control in an open environment.

- Keep dogs on a leash if they are dominant or insecure: The well-being and safety of everyone should be the priority.
